How better to embody the creative freedom and honor of his legacy than with the name Saor, which means “free” in Scottish Gaelic? If he draws his inspiration from his country, Andy Marshall, founder of the band, has always gladly wandered between the borders of traditional Scottish music, Celtic folk and atmospheric black. These wanderings have nevertheless been guided by texts depicting history, literature and landscapes, which gave birth to this “metal of Caledonia”. Saor is a thorough project that refuses to fine-tune its ambitions and does not hesitate to deploy in full its powerful ten-minute pieces on stage.
The Cernunnos 2020 will be the opportunity to celebrate the album Forgotten Path’s first anniversary and perhaps to discover unexplored trails, who knows?
